Intended for business and hybrid work environments, Epson has released three new projectors—the EX5280, Pro EX7280, and EX9230. The projectors use 3-chip 3LCD technology with traditional lamp light sources that provide up to 3,800 lumens, 4,000 lumens, and 3,500 lumens, respectively. The lamp will last up to 6,000 hours in Normal mode and 12,000 hours in ECO.
The EX5280 has a native XGA resolution (1024x768), while the Pro EX7280 is a WXGA native resolution (1280x800) projector, and the EX9230 (available only in Canada) provides a Full HD 1080p (1920x1080) image. Epson's 3LCD display technology has equal white and color brightness and, because it uses three chips (one for each color primary), there is no need for a color wheel and no chance of the rainbow effect.
To ease setup, they all have a 1.2x manual optical zoom, automatic vertical keystone correction and a manual slider for horizontal keystone correction—both up to ±30 degrees.
The three projectors all have HDMI inputs (the EX9230 has two, one of which supports MHL), a D-sub 15 pin connector for computer or component video connectivity, one composite RCA, a stereo RCA audio in, and two USB connectors (one Type-A and one Type-B). Each has a built-in mono 2W speaker. They are all roughly the same size, measuring under 4x12x10 inches (HWD) and weighing about 5.5 pounds.
MSRP for the projectors are $629 for the EX5280, $699 for the Pro EX7280, and $799 for the EX9230. All are available now and come with Epson's one-year, full replacement limited warranty and access to their toll-free PrivateLine support.
